What is a Student Complaint?
As a student union, the Science Student Union works to improve both the quality of education and the study environment at the Faculty of Science.
A student complaint can relate to anything concerning your time at the university, big or small. This could include issues such as delayed grading of reports or exams, or more serious matters like harassment.
No matter the issue, the union is here to help!
Union Internal and Student Life
Internal union matters may involve conflicts between active members or issues that arise during, or in connection with, union activities or operations.
How such matters are handled depends largely on who is involved. In most cases, conflicts are managed by the Presidium, which works to communicate with all parties involved and find a constructive solution.
If a member of the Presidium is directly involved in the issue and you would prefer not to contact them, you can instead reach out to the other member of the Presidium, the Inspector, or a Board member.
Issues related to other aspects of student life, such as Studentlund, can often be addressed by the Presidium. However, some cases may require coordination with another organisation.
What Can the Union Do?
The union has access to a wide range of resources—both within the university and the broader student community—that can support you in any situation you may face as a student.
The main contacts for student complaints are the Union Presidium and the Chief Safety Officer (HSSO). Both are bound by professional confidentiality and will not share anything you disclose without your consent.
The Union Presidium works full-time to represent and support students at the Faculty of Science. They are fully committed to addressing your concerns and can be reached best via luna@luna.lu.se or by visiting the union office during opening hours.
The Chief Safety Officer (HSSO) coordinates the work of the Student Safety Officers (SSOs) across the various departments, focusing on improving both the physical and psychosocial study environment. Both the HSSO and SSOs are trained to handle student-related matters. You can reach the SSO at your department via their specific email address, or contact the HSSO directly at hsso@luna.lu.se.
My Complaint
Depending on the nature of your complaint, different people may need to be involved to help resolve the issue. However, when you contact the union, you always have the option to decide whether or not to proceed with your matter—your consent is required at every step.
Your first point of contact may be a Student Safety Officer (SSO) within your department, the union's Chief Safety Officer (CSO), or the Presidium.
All of these representatives are bound by professional confidentiality and will not share any information without your explicit consent.
You can read more about the union’s non-disclosure agreement here.
