Pedagogical Prize: Ross Church

With a deep passion for astrophysics and a remarkable ability to make complex theoretical concepts accessible, Ross consistently adapts his teaching to address the diverse needs of his students. Through innovative methods, he enhances understanding and fosters critical scientific thinking while creating an exceptionally welcoming and respectful learning environment for the students. Ross brings theory to life with relatable analogies and a warm sense of humor, encouraging curiosity and empowering every student, regardless of background.

His commitment to continuous course improvement through feedback and interdisciplinary thinking reflects pedagogical excellence that inspires and elevates the student experience. Therefore, we proudly award Ross Church the 2025 LUNA Pedagogical Prize.

Honorary Prize: Lotta Persmark

Lotta is one of the academic advisors in the Biology Department and someone that students still look back on and appreciate even after graduation. Her dedication, unwavering support, and guidance help students navigate academic and personal challenges. She goes above and beyond her role to ensure that the student voice is heard, and she will always be a champion for the students, a quality that is noticeable in the fact that students from other departments often wish they could get help from Lotta.
